Imaginary Landscape

Imaginary Landscape

is a duet with one live performer and a voice recording of the past. It's best-friend-secret-code; it's trying to figure out the secret of best friendship smushed by distance. It's a meditation on what a performer misses about her collaborator--and not so much.

Faculty/Staff Concert June 2016.
Choreography and Performance: Katie Skinner
Sound: Bowery Electric, Ron Kuivila, New Electronic Music 1992, and Voicemail recordings by Zach Bird

Created in Roanoke, VA at Hollins University while working for the MFA in Dance Program. The piece was made in a few days, using a voicemail recording from a past work.
